And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:18
Biblical business owners and executives have a special opportunity to intercede for a certain segment of the Lord’s people – their employees, customers, and vendors. This is a special ministry for which business owners and executives are uniquely positioned. There is no other person who has a relationship with the
people that you, through your business, have.
While many businesspeople have a sense of that responsibility, they often get sidetracked in deciding how to make that happen. Here are some real-life examples of how people have made prayer a regular part of their business routines…
Specific Prayer Requests
Glenn makes it a point of walking the floor of his manufacturing company and saying hello to every employee, most days of the week. He’ll ask if there is anything for which he can pray on behalf of that employee. Most of the time, the answer is “no,” but often the question results in a conversation and specific prayer request. If appropriate, Glenn will pray right there with the employee. Or,
he may go back to his office and begin his day with the prayer requests of his employees.
Pray for Every Employee
Duncan keeps a “3X5” index card on every employee. On it, he writes down personal information and snippets of conversations he’s had with that employee. He then prays for them and notes those prayers on the card. Duncan rotates the cards every day, so that he is focusing on, and praying for, every employee on a regular basis.
Customer and Vendor Prayers
For years, I have maintained a list of current customers and vendors, and regularly pray for their success and ask the Lord’s blessings on them and the Spirit’s involvement in their lives.
Prayer About Business Decisions
My customer service supervisor and I would meet every Monday morning at 7:30 – before the day began – and pray specifically about the decisions, events, and relationships for the week.
